Rata de barrio

I'm having so much fun out here! I have been on my mission for 5 months now!

I had the opportunity to meet one of the 12 apostles! Elder Gary E. Stevenson came to speak to my whole mission. He told us that he sprained his hand from "balling with with my grandkids. Elder Bednar said that you all would get a kick out of that story". I learned a lot, but something I really took away from the experience was the feelings I felt. I felt so so much unignorable joy in my heart just from being in his presence. The holy spirit was very close to everyone. This gospel is true. Lots of happy tears were shed. I wonder how it will feel to meet Jesus one day.

I got to baptize my convert's daughter! Her name is Macarena. She is so funny and always calls me by my first name Ella haha. She comes to church every Sunday and is a diligent member of the church!!

I taught the elders that I ward share with what a "hood rat" is. They both only know Spanish so I translated it to "rata de barrio". It was so funny and revolutionary to them that they say it all the time now. Since it is winter in Chile, we all wear beanies, hoodies, scarfs, etc. And that makes us look hood. We all gangsters out here. So I decided to draw all four of us as hoodrats then give it to them. They call me the Pimp so my drawing has the big dollar sign necklace. I made a whole freestyle rap about how we are dressed like hoodrats, or ratas de barrio.

We had a karaoke night with the whole ward!! Im just a quiet girl who doesn't know a ton of Spanish, so when my comp asked me to sing Dancing Queen by Abba with her (IN ENGLISH!!) I went all out. I hit them with my disco moves and moonwalk. Since I hit the first dance move everyone gasped and pulled out their phones to record. It was honestly really fun showing them I have a personality and am not just a quiet person that doesn't speak fluent Spanish haha. There is a video of the whole thing on my google photos.

There has been a lot of joy this week and Im creating life long friends, which is sad knowing I will leave them after the transfer ends. Well, that how things go.

As a mission we are studying Christlike Attributes. I have focused on Dilligence. Continuing to work hard because I love Christ! We should all strive harder to be more like Christ.
