Death by cats

Image
I ate lunch at a sister's house! She had 5 cats and two dogs. She made pizzas for us by hand, really really yummy. But I think the pizzas had cat dander in it... annnd Im allergic to cats. so before I knew it I began sneezing sniffling and my lungs began to swell. I should have known that when my companion was sniffling too it would be bad. Later that day I went to a house with six cats. Yippee. At least the lessons went well and they felt loved. Im teaching a pregnant lady. She had her baby yesterday! Super cool and super fun text to receive. We were teaching Eduardo for a while. In our last lesson he said at the end "I don't want to take anymore lessons from you.. but here are some cookies" (so we dont hate him I'm assuming) it was kinda funny but also pretty sad.  But we got break up cookies! Cooked milanesa with Elder Ballejos, Elder Johnson, Hermana Mcmullin, and a family from our ward. It is an Argentinian dish so Ballejos was very proud. Learning more and t...

Proposals

Image
Hola todos! I got proposed to twice. One time went like this. "How do i get closer to God?"  "Go to church! Its down the road every Sunday at nine am!" "Okay. I want to marry one of you." Real slick. I was able to serve in the city for a day! In the mission we have one day every transfer where you get to switch companions. I was sent to the city with Hermana Crespo from Bolivia. We visited this home that housed about 20 people. Five little boys were playing soccer in the "house". I use quotes because there wasn't a roof in this section of the house. Well they allll started calling me "tia tia tia!" And I said "ay! Call me Hermana" and they all said "okay okay."       Ten mins later they started calling me "ella ella!" Exactly how my first name sounds.... huhhh?? Weird because they don't know my first name! Well I guess these kids call women "ella" because shortly later I heard them call ...

Mate, Comida, Spirit

Latinos saying "Fetch" is funny. Comida! Dogs everywhere. One dog in particular decided to follow the Elders on their way to lunch. They named her Comida. Well the hermana in our chuch who was going to serve us lunch didnt open the door for 20 mins. After yelling alo 5 times we waited and waited. Comida waited with us too. We said "if we dont get our comida soon guess we have to eat Comida."  Later after a lesson I found Comida wreaking havoc in the streets chasing cats and causing all the dogs in the neighborhood to start barking. Saw her again today shes doing well. --- Rolando In december he was planning on being baptized but then stopped going to church for an unknown reason. We taught him the plan of salvation this week. I really dont know a lot of spanish so I say what I can in lessons. Well, I felt God pushing me SO hard to talk about my dear friend Kallie. So I asked my companion to translate for me (as embarrassing as it is). I told him about how my friend ...

I. Love. Chile.

Image
Allo everyone! I am now in Chile for the next 18 months and I couldnt be more excited about it! Waking up every morning and putting on my tag is the best feeling. Im so blessed to have the opportunity to wear Christs name dailey. Few things I have learned so far   - Nobody has a front door here, only front gates. Because of that we yell "allo!" Really loud outside so the owner knows we are there. - Pan (bread) every day! All day every day. They sell it for less than an American dollar here and its pretty good - To say goodbye always give a kiss on the cheek then say "Chao!" - street dogs and cats EVERYWHERE. Never touch them - Chileans only eat huge lunches at 2pm so instead of going to eat "once" (Chilean way to say dinner) at members homes, we have member lunches every day of the week! - Chileans don't pronounce the letter "s" ever. Little confusing for me at times but Im getting used to it - my area has small homes that are all cramped up ...
