Neverending Sickness

Image
Well, these past 6 weeks with my companion Hermana Puchi have been sick! Literally. We've been switching off sicknesses. She had the flu SUPER bad this week so we stayed home the whole time. The district leader was breathing down our neck wanting us to leave and work but we stayed so she could get better. I found some ways to entertain myself such as, -  learn my companion's favorite song on the guitar -  make homemade raspberry jam with raspberries I bought in the farmers market outside my house (so so easy guys) -  sorted through all of the stuff my companion collected throughout her mission -  drawing pictures of Jesus in my journal -  made a Book of Mormon box case for our district leader's birthday I'm happy she is healed now and we get to work....  ....We don't talk about the fact that transfers are tomorrow and we might not even be together anymore. Ate lunch with one of my favorite Chilean families in my ward. They were asking about my extended fami...

We have been knocking the unknocked doors. It is like a new world. Having a chilean companion is a hack because chileans open up to chileans. But one guy on the street came up to us and said "welcome to chile!!" Then later came up to me again and said "Hi. You look like a movie star." I smiled and nodded then walked away.  I was really tired and coming home from work for the day. We bought some fresh bread for 30 cents, like usual. Well, I was so tired that instead of eating it I went home, put it under my pillow, forgot about it then woke up the next morning with bread under my pillow. Made me laugh really hard. Breakfast yay. If anyone needs prayers or love shoot me an email!! elladelhoyo@missionary.org In church they spoke about the photo of christ knocking a door, and they said that when the missionaries knock doors they are acting as jesus. They are bringing the gospel and we need to open our doors to them. It made the mission feel more important for me.  Join ...

I made a box to hold my books of mormon in! I also left the mission to go to the doctor. We went into the Santiago East mission!! It is way way rich and it was cool being somewhere different. Played soccer in the streets with some of my kids I'm teaching. It was a very "Im a missionary in South America playing soccer with children" moment for me.  I studied chapter 3 of Mormon and it was great. Mormon lead the Nephites to victory in war, but the Nephites were being prideful and wicked. He did so much to just help them, and they still chose evil. So, warned them of what's to come then decided to step back and let them choose for themselves. God tells him "I will take care of it". We can only do so much to help others, then rest will be in their own hands and God's.

Thats a name of a person we tried to find this week. Ive been saying it nonstop in my head. Water in the ceilings.. condensation on the walls.. yup. The elders left the baptismal font running hot water all week after their baptism last sunday. They said that a good chunk of the mission is dealing with baptismal font problems so yay! Marked off my first one this week! Our friend who is 12 couldnt come to church because her ride canceled on us. I was praying while the church service was starting and Dayis just walks in and sits with us. She said she walked herself to an hermanas house, knocked the door, and made her take her to church. HAHAAA I LOVE GOD!! We baptized my friend Loreto yesterday! The dog we named Comida is always in town and sometimes follows us. Well these two little 7 year old girls run around this apartment complex and love Comida. Comida ran away, and the little girls started screaming "COMIDAAAA". The neighbors were giving weird looks, but you gotta give it ...
