Couch

 I got transfered!!

You all! I moved for the first time ever and now am up in Valle Grande! Its north of Quilicura. I left hermana Puchi and am now with my new companion Hermana Chappell. We are doing a "pink wash" which means before us there were elders there serving. So all of the people that the elders taught are now ours. The load of laundry they left in the washer is now ours! And the random couch they got from the side of the road is now ours!

Hermana Chappell (from Spanish Fork, Utah) and I are building this place from the ground up. Before us, lets just say... there wasn't a lot of working before us. But its good because we can see the trust God and the mission president has in us. We are going to grow the Valle Grande ward!!

The couch
Unlike any other missionaries, we have a couch in our house. The elders took it off the road and we have it. Honeslty didnt want to know it was from the road but... its okay. The president already knows about it and is going to come and remove it from our house haha.

I love my new house!! It is so cute and its pretty big for a mission house. Ive never had a house of my own. Its three bedroom one bathroom and has heaters. Thats a huge luxury.

We are sharing the ward with two hermanas. Hermana Rojas (from Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Hermana Savchuk (from Uruguay). They are both incredible missionaries and us four are ready to work hard in this ward.

Leaving
I left my baby area. Villa Primavera. I was there for 5 months of my mission (all my time in Chile) That ward became family. I felt so close to them but as soon as I left I realized that they felt close to me too. It was so sad the last day running around saying goodbyes and EVERYONE wanting to feed us feasts. My comp and I brought plastic bags in our backpacks in case we needed to secretly hide our food. It really made my heart so warm when members and friends gave me little parting gifts or a couple dollars to go get some candy. Being a missionary and becoming friends with people genuinely is a unique and loving experience. I am so so grateful. Forever will love Villa 💕

Now im here
Valle Grande is going to be amazing! We taught two people in English yesterday. Perks of being two white girls in chile haha. It is hard here because a lot of people feel fine with what they have but there are a couple golden people. Super faithful people who want to learn more. Such as Angel. The elders named his address "House with a turret". A turret is one of those pointy buildings on top of a castle. So. We looked, didn't find a turret but found a guy with a huge crane on top of his car. Angel. He films car ads and drives with the huge camera crane on the car. He has a ton of tech in his front porch. Took me back to high school tech class. We taught him in english.

"I dont really think I believe in Jesus. I think hes just a person that men created so that God is more relatable."

"Well the Church of Jesus Christ believes that God sent his son here on Earth to bring us the gospel. How else would we be able to know the truth?" (we explained more but you get the jist)

He then said "You know. That actually makes sense. Okay tell me more"

And we were able to talk and talk about the gospel. In. English. So fun.

My dad is now the bishop of the Peachland ward! This was really super cool news to me! Woohoo go dad!

Want you all to know that God has a plan for you!

Lots of love, Hermana DelHoyo
