The Peepers

Imagine this

You are knocking the outdoor apartment doors in Zapadores Chile. You start on the third (top) floor. You shout once at the yellow door.
"Alo!" ... no response.
"Alo!!!" ..still nothing.
"Alo! Somos las misioneras!" Nothing.
Like normal, you walk away but see a boy in the window watching you. Out of embarrasment of getting caught he swiftly closes the blinds.
We laugh.
After knocking the whole third floor, we move on to the second floor. We glance one last time at the yellow door and see the boy shut the door fast.
"Does he know that we can see him?"
We keep going. Shouting, getting no response to most of the doors. You then look back at the yellow door. It is way at the top of the third floor. You see him RUN back into his apartment and close the door.
Is this for real? He thinks we cant see him PEEPING while we knock doors. So we make a plan to pretend not to see him and then say "hola!" So he will talk to us.
"3...2...1...(turn around) HOLA!!"
The peeper wasnt there that time. So we march up back to the third floor and knock the yellow door once more.
"Alo!"..... THE DOOR OPENS!
And its a young girl. We tell her we are missionaries and ask if there is a person with interest in hearing a message about Jesus Christ living there.

She looks us in the eyes... pauses.. then says
"No."
Then she shut the door.

I hope the peeper was a cute young boy and not a creepy man. All we saw was a shadow. Maybe we should go back and try again.

My week was good! We moved into our zone now! We live in a cute house in the back of a classic Chilean house. You walk through a gate then there is a huge long hallway with rooms on each side. At the back of the hallway is a door to the back patio with plants and sunshine. To the left is our cute missionary house! I love doing my laundry on the roof patio and hanging my wet clothes on clothing lines. It is so peaceful. I also like not having to walk through La Chimba anymore. (Scary druggy neighborhood)

While me and my companion were planning out our week I was sat at the living room table. We have our mirror propped up there because nobody has come to hang it up for us yet. The mirror fell on top of me and shattered... then shortly after, my comps glass water bottle shattered as well. Then our power went out twice. So we decided to pray for our home to be a safe place away from the crazy world and so far so good :)

I loved General Conference!! General Conference is a worldwide broadcast that the Prophet and Apostles of the church put on. Going to be honest, it was hard watching some sessions in only spanish because Im not fluent yet. BUT with the things I did understand (and the sessions we watched in english) I really liked this;

Someone said the words "Spiritual Maintenance Plan" and I immediately wrote that down. What do I do to actively maintain my spirituality? I jotted down a list.

- Temple attendence
- Taking the holy sacrament every sunday
- Scripture reading & studying
- Intentional faith every day
- Praying and speaking with God dailey
- Acting and treating others as Christ would
- Serving others
- Writing daily grattitude
- Repentance

I want you all to think about your own spiritual maintenance plan and what you can do more to live like Christ did. It truly helps my life have meaning and purpose. Growing a testimony takes steps. Little by little we can grow our little seed of faith into a beautiful tree baring fruit!

3 Nephi 14
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

20 Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.

READ THAT AGAIN!! Lets try to bare good fruit.

This week brought trials and was hard for me at times, but I continue to see blessings come out of trials. The 50 "no's" we got was hard, but it made the 3 "yes's" we got SO worth it.

Also shout out,
My darling friend Kallie Glass who recently passed away is supposed to be in the MTC right now. She was supposed to serve in the Japan Tokyo North mission. I love her to peices and have been thinking about her so much. Im happy I can serve on earth with her by my side spiritually.

Lots of love!!
