Neverending Sickness

Well, these past 6 weeks with my companion Hermana Puchi have been sick! Literally. We've been switching off sicknesses. She had the flu SUPER bad this week so we stayed home the whole time. The district leader was breathing down our neck wanting us to leave and work but we stayed so she could get better. I found some ways to entertain myself such as,

-  learn my companion's favorite song on the guitar
-  make homemade raspberry jam with raspberries I bought in the farmers market outside my house (so so easy guys)
-  sorted through all of the stuff my companion collected throughout her mission
-  drawing pictures of Jesus in my journal
-  made a Book of Mormon box case for our district leader's birthday

I'm happy she is healed now and we get to work....
....We don't talk about the fact that transfers are tomorrow and we might not even be together anymore.

Ate lunch with one of my favorite Chilean families in my ward. They were asking about my extended family a bit. I explained my family tree and touched a bit on how my Grandpa DelHoyo is from Uruguay...that always gets them going. The dad said

"Ah it makes sense now how you are such a good vibe" or "buena onda"

YEEEHAW! My quarter Latina blood is helping me out once again.

While we were walking to lunch a guy in the street started talking to us while leaning against his front gate.

Guy: "🙂 hi. De Utah?"
Me: "Hello! Nooo"
Guy: "De California?"
Me: "SI!"
Guy: "AAAAJHH. Siiii. Mi linda hermosaaa"

Then we walked away. Creepy, but also he guessed where Im from! Kinda cool.

We found a lady who has been with her boyfriend since they were 18. She is now 70 something years old. She and her boyfriend go to church with their grandkid every Sunday but the boyfriend claims to be catholic. He wont marry her no matter how many times she asks, or how many sets of missionaries beg him. We asked her if she wants to be baptized.

"I've wanted to be baptized my whole life." She said with tears in her eyes and strain in her voice.

It's just so hard. I hope to work with her and her family more and more. She showed us how to make yummy cake yesterday and there were a lot of laughs.

I held normal conversations in Spanish y'all. Big accomplishments.

O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord! O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you! Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I mourn your loss.

He had open arms to receive you and how did you react? Did you run into his arms or did you fall away from them.

I had a time in my life where I chose to leave his grasp. I went through life pushing him away and honestly I wouldn't be the same person I am now if I had never had my time away. But. Eventually, with the smallest ounce of faith I had I decided to commit again, even if I didn't know what I was fully doing. I went back to church. I took a journal so I could write down the revelation I was receiving and I received a lot. With my open heart, I choose to act on it. I received my patriarchal blessing, started my mission papers, went through the holy temple, and went to another life changing semester of college. Now I am on my mission and I get to remember my actions. My choice to let him receive me and soften my heart to his sweet love.

Jesus Christ lives. He gave his life for you. Devote your life to him. Take the steps, go through the hard things. He will be with you.
