Mate, Comida, Spirit
Latinos saying "Fetch" is funny.
Comida!
Dogs everywhere. One dog in particular decided to follow the Elders on their way to lunch. They named her Comida. Well the hermana in our chuch who was going to serve
us lunch didnt open the door for 20 mins. After yelling alo 5 times we waited and waited. Comida waited with us too. We said "if we dont get our comida soon guess we have to eat Comida."

Later after a lesson I found Comida wreaking havoc in the streets chasing cats and causing all the dogs in the neighborhood to start barking. Saw her again today shes doing well.

In december he was planning on being baptized but then stopped going to church for an unknown reason.
We taught him the plan of salvation this week. I really dont know a lot of spanish so I say what I can in lessons. Well, I felt God pushing me SO hard to talk about my dear friend Kallie. So I asked my companion to translate for me (as embarrassing as it is). I told him about how my friend Kallie passed away in a car crash 3 months ago and how it was so so hard for me. I told him BECAUSE I had Jesus Christ in my life I was able to read scriptures, go to the temple and value my time with my friends way more. I bore testimony about how bad things happen in life, but through Christ we can get through it.
He then felt comfortable to speak about his sister recently passing away. That was the reason he didnt get baptized in december. He was trapped in his depression and couldnt escape.
Share. Your. Testimony. Listen to the holy ghost when he urges you to speak. Tell your stories. I testify that it will show companionship and people will open up to you!

I tried mate! Mate is a South American drink made from dried leafs. Makes me think of my Grandpa DelHoyo when I drink it because I would always see him drink it. A lot of missionaries here are hooked on mate, and I like it!

Honestly the only hard thing worth noting is the excessive ammount of food I am being served. Once the put the plate in front of my face and the prayer is said we GOGOGO. You better eat fast and you better eat it all. I glance at my companions plate as well as the other Elders plates and they eat FAST. I am a slow eater so I am stressed out during meals. Now I need to make this known, the serving size is humungous. It could feed me and my two sisters. All of this chaos AND trying to speak spanish. When I finish Im full to bursting. We say "thank you!". Next thing you know THEY PULL OUT A BOWL OF FRUIT. eat it all.
Walking home is rough but at least I was polite and finished my food.

Anyways, this week was filled with a lot of faith, food, dogs, and energy despite the fact I cant speak to most people. Although my mission is here in Chile, I know I can help other missionaries, friends, and family memembers to feel the joy of the gospel!
"If you want to receive the companionship of the Holy Ghost, you must want it for the right reasons. Your purposes must be the Lord’s purposes. If your motives are too selfish, you will find it difficult to receive and sense the promptings of the Spirit" - Our Constant Companion talk by Eyring
